Eve Systems supports only the Eve Thermo on Android
Eve Systems first announced plans for an Android app at IFA 2022. Then last week, after more than two years of anticipation and makeshift solutions via Samsung SmartThings, the smart home company launched the Eve for Matter app on Google Play Store. But in an awkward twist of events, Android users of Eve gadgets who may have expected the new app to bring parity between Android and iOS accessibility to custom features still have to wait a little while longer.
Eve is peddling its Android app as the key to unlocking the full potential of Eve Thermo – the company's smart radiator thermostat and the sole device supported by the app. Android users can use the app to add this gadget to Google Home and from there link it to any other smart home platform. For now, no other Eve devices are supported.
In a way, this feels like a downgrade since Android users already enjoy multi-device support via Eve’s integrations with SmartThings and Alexa. However, these apps do not offer features such as automated scheduling, which are unsupported by Matter. Matter is still necessary to link the Eve Thermo to Google Home on the Eve app, but these additional features are only accessible via Eve app. However iOS users can enjoy a wider range of custom features from several Eve smart home devices.
Existing users of the Eve Thermo have to upgrade their devices to work with Matter, but the company has also released a new version of the Eve Thermo for €79.95 that is equipped with Matter-over-Thread compatibility out of the box. Buy it for 15% off on Amazon.
