Real-world images give the first official look at the front of OnePlus 13R

OnePlus is gearing up to release a new smartphone lineup in China, the Ace 5 series. This lineup will initially introduce two smartphones: a standard and a Pro. Between the two, the standard is expected to launch outside China as the OnePlus 13R, and a recent leak has already shown off the design of the sub-flagship phone.

Now, Louis Lee, the brand's president, has shown off the soon-to-be OnePlus 13R by sharing real-world photos of the phone. These images show the front of the device, and they reveal that it will feature narrow bezels, similar to what the Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered OnePlus 13 comes with.

Another thing that's similar to the OnePlus 13 is the straight screen on the front. This is something that almost all Chinese manufacturers have jumped on with their latest flagships, moving from the curved displays found in the last-gen devices. While the company hasn't confirmed yet, this screen will reportedly be the 6.78-inch BOE X2 LTPO display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a 1.5K resolution.

Of course, the OnePlus president did confirm that the standard Ace 5 will sport a metal middle frame. This will make it feel more premium in hands than the other upper mid-range competitors.

OnePlus has also recently confirmed that the Ace 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. However, this SoC inside the device has received some custom tuning. With this, the company claims that the SoC will perform better than the other devices powered by the same chipset.

Other expected features of the soon-to-be OnePlus 13R include 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage, a 6,000 mAh battery with support for 100 W fast charging (Anker Prime charger curr. $79.99 on Amazon), and a triple-camera setup on the back. The Ace 5 Pro, on the other hand, will be a more capable device, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and the company is also rumored to release a compact device later in 2025.
