Xiaomi has finally released the Redmi Note 14 5G outside China. While the device closely resembles its Chinese counterpart, Xiaomi has included two hardware upgrades that should improve camera performance.

Xiaomi has offered up the Redmi Note 14 in India as part of the smartphone's first international release. For context, the company initially showcased the device in late September, but only in China. As expected, the global version of the Redmi Note 14 contains a few hardware differences from its Chinese counterpart.

Like the Redmi Note 13 5G (curr. $219.50 on Amazon), Xiaomi has added '5G' onto the end of the device's name for its global launch. Although the company has not confirmed as much yet, this change is likely to accommodate the eventual release of 4G models like the Redmi Note 14 4G and Redmi Note 14 Pro 4G. At any rate, the global Redmi Note 14 5G shares the following hardware with the version that Xiaomi sells exclusively in China:

  • 6.67-inch OLED display, 1080p resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 1,200 nits peak brightness HBM
  • MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra SoC
  • 5,110 mAh battery, 45 W wired charging
  • Sony LYT-600 primary camera, 50 MP output, f/1.5 aperture, 0.8 µm pixels, 1/1.95-inch optical format
  • 2 MP macro lens

However, Xiaomi has also added a third rear-facing camera, which lines up as an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle lens that combines an f/2.2 aperture with a 21 mm equivalent focal length. Moreover, the company has swapped a 16 MP front-facing camera for a 20 MP equivalent that retains up to 1080p and 30 FPS video capabilities. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has dropped the 12 GB of RAM variant for the device's international release.

As a result, the Redmi Note 14 5G will start at INR 18,999 (~$224) with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage when pre-orders open on December 13. Alternatively, the device will be available with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage for INR 19,999 (~$236) and INR 21,999 (~$260). For reference, all memory options can be configured with Mystique White, Phantom Purple and Titan Black finishes. Please see Xiaomi's website for more details.
