Xiaomi has designed its latest version of Android to act as much of a hub for with the rest of its smart devices as possible. Now, the OEM is reportedly trying to find a way to make that "interconnectivity" compatible with hardware from other brands, specifically Apple. The putative upgrade might let smartphones like the Xiaomi 15 gain improved control over accessories such as AirPods.

The ongoing upgrade to HyperOS is touted as a better way for Xiaomi smartphones to sync and share files with own-brand tablets, speakers and other smart devices. Now, the OEM is reportedly looking for a way to cut Apple products in on the ecosystem fun.

The well-regarded leaker Digital Chat Station's new tip might have sounded completely implausible not long ago; however, now that Apple is under more pressure to have less of a walled garden by regulators worldwide, Xiaomi's alleged ambitions just might have some traction as 2024 comes to a close.

On that note, Xiaomi has also recently announced its own open-source Vela software suite for increased IoT cross-compatibility. Therefore, the OEM might indeed also be able to make the Apple Watch, AirPods and HomePods act more like its own wearables, Buds and Sound Pro speakers.

The latest version of HyperOS is also compatible with Link to Windows so that Xiaomi smartphone users can take calls, search for on-device files and drag their screen contents up onto their PC screens.
