Xiaomi's skin for Android is now called HyperOS rather than MIUI (as it had been since the company's foray into the smartphone market), the latest version of which is 2.1 - in China, that is. It was thought to remain exclusive to that market; however, the blog Xiaomitime now claims to have spotted OS2.0.100.0.VNAMIXM, or the "Global" version of the firmware, after all.
HyperOS 2.1 for international devices is reportedly rated to confer "Super Xiao Ai" (for a "smarter" AI experience) on eligible devices, not to mention something that seems very like BeaconLink (a short-range, Wi-Fi- and SIM-independent walkie-talkie function) for OnePlus smartphones.
It may also improve gaming, camera performance and the homescreen UX. HyperOS 2.1 is apparently based on Android 15 and upgrades the security patch level to January 2025.
The global edition of the 14 Ultra is thought to be first in line for the update (which makes sense as it is currently Xiaomi's most premium (now starting at $1,059.50 on Amazon) device in most countries), which could be executed for all eligible devices by the end of February 2025.
Should this new report prove accurate, HyperOS 2.1 might also be the software that boots out of the box on devices such as the Poco F7, F7 Pro and/or Ultra in the near future.
