Xiaomi officially confirms launch date of Xiaomi 15 series and HyperOS 2.0
A good number of manufacturers have already confirmed the launch date of their smartphones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Xiaomi is now one of them. The company has just announced that the Xiaomi 15 series will go official in China on October 29.
With the launch of the next-gen flagship phones, Xiaomi will also be introducing HyperOS 2.0. It will be based on Android 15, and according to past reports, the new software update will bring multiple enhancements to its predecessor. Rumored changes include an iOS-styled apps menu, smoother animations across the UI, and many optimizations for better overall performance.
Getting back to the Xiaomi 15 series, the lineup will first consist of two phones: the standard and the Pro. While the company hasn't officially showcased the design of the smartphones yet, the Pro model was allegedly spotted in the hands of the company's vice president.
The rear of that alleged phone matches the render leak from a few days back, which showed a similar back design to the Xiaomi 14 Pro. Of course, the leak did suggest that there would be a couple of changes, with the most notable one being the flash module outside the camera island.
Past leaks have also shed light on a possible price hike. The standard phone is rumored to start at CNY 4,599 (around $646), while the Xiaomi 15 Pro will reportedly start at CNY 5,299 (about $744). Both the phones are expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite, with the standard phone featuring a compact form factor. More official details should emerge soon.
