Xiaomi 15 now official with design and hardware changes shown in first images
Xiaomi has now lifted the lid on what its next compact flagship looks like. On the face of it, the Xiaomi 15 looks an awful lot like the current Xiaomi 14 (curr. $779.99 on Amazon). However, it seems that the devil is in the detail when it comes to Xiaomi's next compact flagship.
For example, Xiaomi has applied a matte finish to the Xiaomi 15's frame, having persisted with a glossy alternative until now in its flagship smartphones. Additionally, the frame has a subtle curvature to it, which the Xiaomi 14's lacked. Moreover, Xiaomi has moved the LED flash outside the device's camera housing, despite it being as big as ever.
In other words, it seems that Xiaomi has taken a few cues from Apple and its iPhone 16 series. With that being said, the Xiaomi 15 features noticeably thinner display bezels, which Xiaomi claims are a mere 1.38 mm thick on all sides. Furthermore, the Xiaomi 15 has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and three rear-facing cameras, unlike the iPhone 16.
Surprisingly, it appears that the Xiaomi 15 has a shorter telephoto camera than its predecessor. Although Xiaomi has not confirmed as much yet, the inscription on the device's camera housing suggests that it offers between 14 mm and 60 mm focal lengths, compared to 14 mm and 75 mm on the Xiaomi 14. Given that Xiaomi will not present the Xiaomi 15 until October 29, we suspect it will share more teasers between now and then.
