OnePlus 13 apparently outstrips predecessor in real-world gaming test
Digital Chat Station claims to have the next-gen OnePlus 13 on hand ahead of the upcoming flagship's Hallowe'en 2024 debut. The widely-regarded leaker has apparently now moved on from the hands-on stage to testing the device and its cutting-edge SoC with multiple demanding apps.
The 13 (appearing under its Chinese model number PJZ110) was tested against its own immediate predecessor the Ace 3 Pro (PJX110) with the corresponding Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400-powered Vivo V2405DA - the X200 Pro Satellite Edition - also along for the ride.
The newer OnePlus handset's Snapdragon 8 Elite platform was found to have taken the greatest "leap forward" of the 3, with lag-free 121fps Genshin Impact gameplay while using "only" 5.4W of the 13's power.
The X200 Pro did exhibit similar performance in some scenarios, maintaining 125fps/12.6W in the GFX Aztec benchmark compared to 120fps/13W in the PKZ110.
Nevertheless, the 13 was pronounced the most energy-efficient device in this test. Finally - despite the apprehension about the 8 Elite and its potential to become an 888 reboot - it was found to be "only warm" following gameplay, with heat-maps seeming similar to those generated by the competing MediaTek silicon as well as its Snapdragon 8-series forebear.
