OnePlus 13 to feature the largest battery in the company's smartphone lineup
OnePlus will make its very first Snapdragon 8 Elite smartphone official on October 31, and the company has already confirmed a good number of details about the upcoming flagship phone, including the screen and the camera setup. Now, the battery details of the OnePlus 13 have been officially revealed.
It will be the company's first phone to pack a battery with a capacity higher than 5,500 mAh. Previously, the OnePlus 12R held the record for offering the largest battery in the brand's smartphone lineup, but the upcoming flagship phone will overtake that with a 6,000 mAh battery.
The company was capable of fitting such a large capacity battery into the OnePlus 13 by using a silicon-carbon battery instead of the usual graphite-based options that smartphones have been relying on so far. The main advantage over graphite-based batteries is the ability to store more energy in a comparatively smaller form factor.
That's pretty much why OnePlus 13 could pack a larger battery than its predecessor without being thicker. For reference, the upcoming flagship phone measures 8.5 mm thick, while the last-gen device measures 9.15 mm.
Besides that, OnePlus has confirmed that its upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite phone will have support for 100W fast charging (100W Baseus Blade power bank curr. $99.99 on Amazon). It's said to get the battery from 0% to 100% in 36 minutes. There's also support for 50W magnetic wireless charging.
As for the battery life, the OnePlus 13 is said to offer up to 11 hours of video playback after a full charge. The company also claims that the phone can offer 56 minutes of texting and 13 hours of standby when the battery is at 1%. While the company hasn't explicitly mentioned it, these numbers at 1% charge are likely taken when the phone is in the battery saver mode.
