A hands-on leak has led to effusive praise for OnePlus' upcoming flagship Android smartphone, even when compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The 13 is said to be the lighter of the two premium devices, and to avoid some of the new Apple flagship's worst drawbacks in terms of hand-feel. Then again, the Pro Max might still have the edge in one key area.

OnePlus is now touted to be back in the flagship-killing game with the 13. The smartphone has been re-designed to be more premium and refined than ever - even compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, according to the typically knowledgeable leaker Digital Chat Station (DCS).

The brand has apparently got the 13's mass down to just 210 grams (g) in those of its colorways to be finished in "silk" glass, or 213g for its vegan leather options - as opposed to 227g in the Pro Max.

OnePlus has finally given up on its traditional curved frame in the 13; however, DCS asserts that it will still beat its iPhone rival in terms of hand-feel with subtly chamfered edges (like those of the OPPO Find X8 Pro) where the 16 Pro Max's titanium frame might still cause discomfort after long periods of carrying it around.

On the other hand, the OnePlus 13's glass and vegan leather variants have allegedly been found to be 8.5 millimeters (mm) and 8.8mm in thickness, as opposed to 8.3mm in the 16 Pro Max.

Therefore, should the 13 turn out to be any longer or wider than its Apple rival, it might still be the slightly less compact of the 2 handsets - then again, the ability to pack much faster wireless charging might make up for that.
