7Artisans 10mm f/2.8 II full-frame fisheye lens leaked with 185-degree ultra-wide angle and fluorescent scales
7Artisans is known for making lenses that don't often skimp on quality while still maintaining that affordability factor, which is key to a lot of photographers out there. As per new leaks, the company is rumored to introduce an updated version of its 10mm f/2.8 fisheye lens (currently $256 on Amazon). The new full-frame 10mm f/2.8 II lens is set to launch at a price of $278 and will be compatible with E, Z, R, and L mount systems.
As per reports, one of the key upgrades is the wider 185° angle of view. The lens is also designed to produce sharper images, particularly with cameras up to 40MP resolution. Another practical addition is the inclusion of fluorescent scales, which will help users operate more efficiently in low-light conditions.
The leak further states that the lens will feature 11 elements in 8 groups, with a combination of extra-low dispersion (ED) and aspherical elements to reduce distortion and chromatic aberrations. The aperture range spans from f/2.8 to f/16, with 11 aperture blades. Notably, the aperture ring is de-clicked, which should make it easier for videographers to adjust exposure smoothly during filming.
With a minimum focus distance of 0.15 meters, this lens seems well-suited for capturing dramatic close-ups. Weighing in at around 602 grams, it has a metal construction. However, due to its wide front element, the lens does not support filters. Performance data from the MTF chart also indicates that the lens maintains strong sharpness across its ultra-wide field of view.
