Xiaomi 15 Ultra shown months before release with new specs also revealed
The launch of the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro is right around the corner. Based on recent leaks, the pair will replace the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro on October 29 during a launch event where Xiaomi will also officially showcase HyperOS 2.0.
However, SmartPrix has provided an alleged first look at the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which is not due until early next year. Specifically, the website alleges that the device will succeed the Xiaomi 14 Ultra (curr. $1,085 on Amazon) in February 2025. Unfortunately, it has not offered up any evidence to support that claim, though.
Nonetheless, the design shown matches previous rumours. Consequently, while the large circular camera housing returns, it has been rearranged to fit a new periscope telephoto camera. According to SmartPrix, this new camera will be the ISOCELL HP9, which Samsung already provides to Vivo for the X100 Ultra. If that is the case, then the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will deliver a 4.3x native optical zoom across a 1/1.4-inch optical format and with 200 MP at its disposal.
Moreover, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to launch with 50 MP primary, 50 MP ultra-wide-angle and 50 MP 2x telephoto cameras, as well as a 32 MP front-facing camera. On top of that, Xiaomi will support Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset with a 6,000 mAh battery that can be recharged at 80 W wirelessly or 90 W via a wired connection. As it stands, it seems that Xiaomi's 'Ultra' smartphone will return in black and white vegan leather finishes, too.
