The Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro are undoubtedly the stars of Xiaomi's product launches today. However, the company has also updated its Redmi Watch product line with another fifth-generation model. For context, Xiaomi already sells the Redmi Watch 5 Active and Redmi Watch 5 Lite (curr. $69.99 on Amazon) globally.
By contrast, the Redmi Watch 5 is exclusive to China for now. Past Redmi Watch releases suggest that Xiaomi may offer its latest wearable beyond its home market at some stage, though. As expected, the Redmi Watch 5 has arrived with a large AMOLED display that spans 2.07-inches across while outputting at 432 x 514 pixels with 1,500 nits of brightness at it disposal.
Moreover, Xiaomi has applied a 2.5D curved glass finish atop this display, which it has complemented with an aluminium alloy mid-frame and a stainless steel crown. Meanwhile, the Redmi Watch 5 also finds itself with a 550 mAh battery that should last upwards of 12 days between charges. Furthermore, Xiaomi has installed GNSS and NFC modules, as well as a modem that masters Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.
On top of that, the Redmi Watch 5 runs HyperOS 2.0 natively and is compatible with smartphones running Android 8.0 or iOS 12.0 and above. As always, Xiaomi's latest wearable comes with a variety of health monitoring features aided by an optical heart rate and blood oxygen sensor. For reference, Xiaomi has priced the Redmi Watch 5 at CNY 599 (~$83), which is a mere CNY 100 (~$14) more expensive than the Redmi Watch 4. Incidentally, the company sells an eSIM variant too, albeit for CNY 799 (~$110) at launch.
