Garmin smartwatches get new Release Candidate software update
A new public beta update, version 21.19, has been rolled out to the Forerunner 165, Forerunner 255, Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965 smartwatches. A recent post on the company’s online forum states that this release is already available for all users signed up to the beta program.
Garmin also notes that version 21.19 is a Release Candidate. This means that assuming beta testers do not discover any major issues, a stable version of the software will soon roll out to all customers. According to the change log, the only difference between this new release and its predecessor, version 21.18, is stability improvements.
However, compared to the last public update, version 20.32, this new update will bring many new features and improvements. These include the Moon Phase glance, a Meditation activity (for most models), and automatically applied Lactate Threshold and Function Threshold Power estimates. If you own a Forerunner 165, Forerunner 255, Forerunner 265, Forerunner 955 or Forerunner 965 smartwatch, you can download public beta version 21.19 by going to Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. It is also worth noting that the Garmin Forerunner 165 is currently reduced to $199.99 in a Black Friday Deal at Amazon.
