Huawei Watch GT 5: Global update rolling out with improved map features
The Huawei Watch GT 5 smartwatch is being updated with new firmware rolling out globally. The wearable launched alongside the Watch GT 5 Pro in September, with features designed for runners and cyclists.
This update is almost identical to the one currently rolling out to the Huawei Watch GT 5 Pro. The change log states that Brazilian Portuguese is now supported as a language for workout voice prompts. There are optimizations for offline map features and system stability. On top of this, the notification center is said to have new and improved descriptions of each setting, which you can view when you tap the information icon. However, there is one feature that is missing in firmware version 5.0.0.125 for the Watch GT 5 compared to the Watch GT 5 Pro. This is touch protection when golfing, to prevent mistaken triggers.
The update appears to be rolling out in phases to the smartwatch and will be available to download via the Huawei Health app. It is unclear how long it will take for the update to reach all units of the Huawei Watch GT 5 smartwatch (currently €249.99 at Amazon).
