The Redmi K80 may be a cheaper alternative to the Redmi K80 Pro that Xiaomi has also presented today. However, it shares plenty of hardware with its more expensive sibling, including a Light Hunter 800 sensor for its primary camera. Understandably, Xiaomi has made a few compromises to hit a lower price point, though.
For example, the Redmi K80 makes do with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and not the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite that underpins the Redmi K80 Pro. Nonetheless, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset sees the Redmi K80 trading blows with current flagship smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (curr. $949.99 on Amazon). Similarly, Xiaomi equips the Redmi K80 with LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.0 flash storage and a 6,550 mAh battery that even surpasses the capacity of the Redmi K80 Pro.
Unfortunately, the Redmi K80 lacks wireless charging support. Still, the handset can recharge its comparatively large battery at 90 W via a wired connection. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has also installed a measely 8 MP ultra-wide-angle sensor to complement its Light Hunter 800-backed primary camera. Similarly, although Xiaomi offers the Redmi K80 Pro with IP69 certification, the Redmi K80 makes do with a lesser IP68 certification against dust and water instead.
Conversely, the Redmi K80 takes its 6.67-inch AMOLED display directly from its Pro sibling. Thus, the panel outputs at 1440p with a 120 Hz refresh rate and up to 3,200 nits of peak brightness when viewing HDR content. For reference, Xiaomi has priced the Redmi K80 at CNY 2,499 (~$345) with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. As always though, Xiaomi also offers multiple memory configurations up to and including a 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage variant, which retails for CNY 3,599 (~$497). While Xiaomi has not commented on a global release yet, the Redmi K80 is expected to arrive as the Poco F7 Pro outside China.
