Apple has now started distributing stable versions of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2 and macOS 15.2 globally. As always, it could still take a few hours before each respective update package reaches compatible iPhones, iPads and Macs. However, one should be able to trigger their installation manually if needed.
Primarily, Apple is using these updates to introduce new AI features. Unfortunately, caveats remain with their proliferation. For example, the expansion of Apple Intelligence only includes localised English support across Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the UK. By contrast, additional languages will not receive Apple Intelligence until April 2025. Specifically, these are as follows:
- Chinese
- English (India)
- English (Singapore)
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Spanish
- Vietnamese
Additionally, Apple Intelligence is only available on a Mac running at least an Apple M1 chipset like the MacBook Air 2020 (curr. $539.90 - renewed on Amazon). Moreover, Apple has brought Image Playground to macOS 15 with its latest release, which can create 'fun and unique images' directly within Freeform, Keynote, Messages and other first-party apps. Separately, Apple has also added Genmoji, which can generate new emojis by describing them in a few words.

Meanwhile, iPadOS now supports generative AI through the Notes app via Image Wall. In short, the new feature operates a bit like Google'd Circle to Search, insofar as one can circle text or an image to generate new content.
Furthermore, Apple now allows texts to be rephrased, summarised or proofread through its Writing Tools service.
On top of that, iOS 18.2 adds ChatGPT within Siri, as does macOS 15.2 for compatible Macs. Incidentally, the new update also adds Visual Intelligence for compatible languages. Please see Apple's press release for more information.
