Xiaomi 15 Ultra: No early Leica camera flagship launch according to recent info
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to sport a 200 MP camera for the first time, but will in all likelihood be a downgrade of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in two respects, at least according to leakers such as Digital Chat Station, who have been commenting on the next Leica camera flagship for months.
Digital Chat Station has also rejected previous indications of a launch in early 2025. Via a post on social media platform Weibo (see screenshot below), he claims that Xiaomi has decided against a launch in January 2025 with the reasoning that Xiaomi still needs a little more time to optimize the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, especially the new zoom camera.
Whether the allegedly not-particularly-large battery in current prototypes will still be replaced remains unclear. However, another theory about the delay is also making the rounds via @devinarde on X, among others. According to this theory, Xiaomi would benefit from new government subsidies if it were launched after the Chinese New Year (January 29). In any case, it looks as if a global launch around the Mobile World Congress 2025 at the beginning of March is once again the most likely scenario; a global launch in January was never on the table anyway.
