Xiaomi 15 Ultra: Leaker shares camera, display, and other details of upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship

Xiaomi has already released three smartphones that sport the Snapdragon 8 Elite, and a new flagship phone featuring the next-gen Qualcomm SoC is on the way. It's the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and recent leaks have already given an idea of what to expect from this camera-focused smartphone.

A new report from Digital Chat Station, a reliable Weibo tipster, has now shared more details on the upcoming camera flagship. According to the leaker, the screen on the engineering sample of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra hasn't seen much change. It's reportedly a 2K quad-curved display with relatively the same panel size as its predecessor.

However, Digital Chat Station says that the camera setup on the back has seen an upgrade. The Weibo tipster reports that Xiaomi has equipped the 15 Ultra with a 200 MP large-aperture periscope telephoto, which is paired with a 50 MP large-aperture telephoto sensor.

In comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra also features two telephoto cameras on the back, but both are 50 MP sensors. Digital Chat Station adds that the upcoming flagship will feature a one-inch large-aperture main camera but didn't name the sensor. A recent leak suggested that this primary sensor will be the Sony LYT-900, the same as the predecessor.

That report also hinted that the ultra-wide sensor of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be the Samsung ISOCELL JN5, which is a 50 MP camera. Getting back to Digital Chat Station's recent report, the leaker added that the battery capacity will remain pretty much the same (140W Anker 737 power bank curr. $79.99 on Amazon), but there will be IP68 and IP69 ratings.

As for when the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will launch, the company is expected to announce it for the Chinese market in early January 2025. The global debut could happen at MWC 2025.
