Surface Laptop Mini and more: Microsoft's plans for the Surface lineup in 2025

Microsoft put all its eggs in the CoPilot+ basket for 2024. Next year, AI will once again be at the forefront, powered by NPUs in the latest Qualcomm, AMD and Intel chips. At least according to Windows Central editor Zac Bowden in a recent report. According Bowden's information, Microsoft is planning new Surface products for next year, and there has already been initial clues about a Surface Laptop with an Intel Lunar Lake chip.

Not only is a new Intel-based variant of the Surface Laptop (available here at Amazon) expected possibly early on in the new year, but a new Surface Pro 11 with the more efficient Lunar Lake chip is also likely to get a launch. Bowden suggests that both devices will probably have a similar design to the current Snapdragon X Elite models and that the anti-reflective layer of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 versions launched at the beginning of 2024 will be included in the new Intel model. The laptop is expected to come with an optional card reader and even the option of 5G for the first time.

Fans of the Surface Laptop Studio series can also look forward to 2025, as new CoPilot+ machines with the latest AMD or Intel chipsets and potentially even 16-inch displays are reportedly planned. But Microsoft may also be brewing up something for fans of smaller form factors, as a kind of "Surface Laptop Mini" with an approximately 11-inch display is rumored to be in the pipeline for next year, as well as a kind of higher-quality Surface Go alternative with the Snapdragon X Plus chip. According to Bowden, both the smaller Surface and the new Surface Laptop Studio 3 will be released a little later in the year.
