Apple has recently refreshed its high-end MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 (curr. $2,249 on Amazon) laptops with M4, M4 Pro and M4 Max chipsets, among other changes from last year's models. As it turns out, Dell may not be far behind with refreshes of its own. Surprisingly, at least two appear to draw on Apple's recent iPhone nomenclature.
Specifically, early details have emerged about the Pro Max 16 Plus and the Pro Max 18 Plus, which are slated to officially debut next month at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. Please note that neither of the images embedded below have been verified yet. However, they are consistent with previous Dell leaks and product imagery.
Reportedly, Dell plans to offer the Pro Max 16 Plus and the Pro Max 18 Plus with Intel Arrow Lake HX processors that have 55 W TDPs at their disposal. Total system power is said to increase to 170 W and 200 W, respectively, in performance mode though on account of Nvidia RTX 5000 laptop GPUs. Unsurprisingly, the two laptops will feature a beefy cooling solution, which earns the pair the accolade of being an 'industry first 3 fan mobile workstation'.
On top of that, the pair will be available with tandem OLED displays, up to 16 TB of storage across 4 M.2 slots and 256 GB of CAMM2 RAM. Moreover, all these components should be easily accessible for repairs and servicing. Furthermore, both laptops will be support Thunderbolt 5 connectivity that will deliver up to 120 Gbit/s transfer speeds in some configurations. Presumably, Dell has other laptop refreshes planned too for CES 2025, although details of these have not leaked yet.
