Apple display roadmap forebodes the launch of an 18-inch foldable device in 2028
Over the past few weeks, we've seen multiple roadmaps that talk about Apple's launch schedule up to as far as 2028. They all agree on one thing: OLED MacBooks are in the pipeline, but differ on launch windows. A new one from Omida (H/T @Jukanlosreve on X) delves into more details about each model and even acknowledges the existence of Apple's first truly foldable device.

In 2026, the iPad Mini (8.4-in) will get an OLED treatment. But it'll get an LTPS panel instead of LTPO found on the iPad Pro models. Next year, the same panel will trickle down to the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Air models. Finally, both iPad Pro models will get an upgraded tandem OLED screen in 2028.
Interestingly, an early version of the new tandem OLED panels mentioned above will first debut on the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2026. The MacBook Air will get the upgrade in 2028. Essentially, it'll be a while before Apple's entire suite of offerings transition to OLED.
Finally, the OLED panel in question will also be featured on an 18.8-inch foldable device. Given its size, it is unlikely to launch as a smartphone. Exactly where it sits in Apple's ecosystem is a mystery. Perhaps it could be Apple's version of the Asus ZenBook 17 Fold OLED, and could serve as a laptop-tablet hybrid.
