Rumours of Apple adopting OLED displays across its iPad and MacBook product stack have been kicking around for a while now. For instance, it seemed that OLED versions of the iPad Air and iPad Pro had been in the works since the beginning of the decade. However, alleged global supply-chain issues were one of the reasons cited for the delay in releasing any iPads with OLED displays.
Apple has now delivered the first step in what Hyundai Motor Securities describes as Apple's expected OLED roadmap. As the image below shows, the company achieved this in the spring with the release of the latest iPad Pro 11 and iPad Pro 13 (curr. $1,099 on Amazon). Unfortunately, Hyundai Motor Securities does not believe Apple will be bringing OLED displays to future iPad and MacBook anytime soon.
Aligning with recent rumours, the South Korean investment bank and brokerage anticipates that the iPad mini and MacBook Pro are next in line to receive OLED-based upgrades, albeit not until 2026. Following these releases could well be the long-rumoured iPad Air in 2027 and the MacBook Air a year after that. Incidentally, the inclusion of the latter on this roadmaps is at odds with another recent report from South Korea, details of which we have covered separately.
