Galaxy S25 Slim not just slim: Samsung reportedly also planning a better camera than the Galaxy S25 and Apple iPhone 17 Air
Those looking for a flagship camera that is as compact and slim as possible may have already come across the Vivo X200 Pro Mini, although this is unlikely to get a global launch. In the case of the Oppo Find X8 Pro, the manufacturer has also focused on the slimmest casing possible, but the champions of casing thickness are not due to be launched until 2025.
Rumors and hints from analysts about Apple's upcoming slim model, possibly called the iPhone 17 Air, which is intended to succeed the iPhone 16 Plus next year, have been circulating for months. Slimming down is likely to be the top priority here, as a recent report by South Korean industry publication ETNews suggests. According to the report, the telephoto cameras will remain reserved for the two iPhone 17 Pro models in 2025, and neither the iPhone 17 nor the iPhone 17 Slim will have a dedicated zoom camera.
Samsung will also strongly focus on thinner housings for its flagship smartphones in 2025: according to previous indications, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be slightly thinner. Instead of a direct successor to the Galaxy S24 FE (available here at Amazon), the South Koreans are likely planning a "Galaxy S25 Slim" next year, which will, however, retain a flagship camera, as stressed by proven leaker Ice Universe (see below).
Ice Universe claims that a "stronger" camera than the regular Galaxy S25 is to be expected, meaning that the Galaxy S25 Slim would follow in the footsteps of the Galaxy Z Fold SE, which also combines a thinner foldable housing with a better camera, as confirmed by a recent camera comparison with the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, concrete specs of the thinner Samsung camera flagship are not yet known for certain.
