Google isn't the only one that's comparing its recent flagship phones with Apple's offering with its latest ad campaigns. Samsung has decided to join in, and in its ad video about foldable Galaxy phones, the South Korean giant has mocked Apple for not being "innovative."
In the video, Samsung shows off what iPhone users are missing out on by showcasing what the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 can do. The advertisement focuses on the versatile nature of the foldable phones, highlighting features like Live Translate on the cover display of the flip phone.
However, that's not the only takeaway from the ad. Samsung also seems to be implying that Apple users are following the instructions of a mysterious character named Simon, referencing the classic "Simon Says" game. In the video, this mysterious character appears to be forcing iPhone users to be happy with "limited choices."
With this, Samsung also appears to be suggesting that Apple has not been "innovative" enough with its latest phones. As a matter of fact, at one point, the video shows the text, "Nobody should wait for innovation." The ad ends with the narrator saying, "Samsung says, do your own thing," hinting that smartphone users won't be following the mysterious character if they switch (512 GB Z Fold 6 curr. $1,514.99 on Amazon).
While ad campaigns from Apple competitors are nothing new, according to Statcounter, the Cupertino giant currently has a 56.77% mobile market share in the US. Samsung, on the other hand, has 23.67%, while Google has 9.46%. Samsung's share hasn't seen much growth in the past few months either, so it's unclear whether such ad campaigns will be successful in making iPhone users switch.
