Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and other Galaxy S25 smartphones appear on FCC before rumoured January 2025 release
Samsung has not officially commented on releasing successors to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus or Galaxy S24 Ultra (curr. $949.99 on Amazon) yet. However, there is an increasing wealth of evidence that new Galaxy S models are on their way. For instance, the Galaxy S25 Ultra was recently showcased in a short hands-on video with its rumoured redesign.
Now, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has published initial regulatory documentation for not just the Galaxy S25 Ultra but also the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus. As always, the FCC does not discuss the trio by their retail names. Instead, it refers to the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus or Galaxy S25 Ultra by their SM-S931U, SM-S936U and SM-S938U model numbers, respectively.

Based on early documents, the base Galaxy S model will once again miss out on ultra-wideband (UWB) connectivity, just like Google's Pixel 9. However, all three will support other modern connectivity standards like 5G, NFC and 6 GHz Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, the FCC aligns with previous suggestions that charging speeds will remain unchanged for at least another generation.
Thus, the Galaxy S25 Plus and Galaxy S25 Ultra will top out at 45 W when using a wired connection. By contrast, the Galaxy S25 will arrive in January 2025 sporting 25 W wired charging. Moreover, all three will be limited to 9 W wireless power sharing. Unsurprisingly, only the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature an S Pen though, which the FCC confirms is produced by Wacom.
