The Nothing Phone (2) has yet to see a proper successor, but as Carl Pei, the company's CEO, has confirmed, it's on track for a 2025 release. Carl Pei has also hinted that the upcoming smartphone will packed with AI features, but as an alleged Geekbench listing suggests, it won't likely go against the recently released flagship phones.
This Geekbench listing in question has the "Nothing A059" model number, and it's believed to be the Nothing Phone (3). As the listing shows, the smartphone features a SoC that matches the specs of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. That's a mid-range Qualcomm SoC, positioned lower than the 7+ Gen 3 and 8s Gen 3.
At launch, Qualcomm highlighted that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 has support for Gen AI support, which means the Nothing Phone (3) won't have any trouble running on-device AI features. However, when it comes to raw performance, it will be behind the last-generation flagship smartphones.
Of course, none of the Nothing phones launched with the latest and greatest SoC to begin with. As the company described during the launch of Phone (2), it focuses on stability, and matured chipsets tend to excel in that regard. Another thing to note is that the company is expected to launch the first Pro model under the Phone (3) lineup.
Reportedly, the Nothing Phone (3) Pro will be the actual successor to the Phone (2), coming with a more capable SoC. The non-Pro, on the other hand, will stand as a more affordable smartphone in the series, with a rumored price tag of around $600 (128 GB Pixel 9 curr. $649 on Amazon).
