Apple has just released the first stable version of macOS 15.2, which it delivered yesterday alongside iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2. Principally, the new macOS Sequoia update focuses on bringing Apple's AI features to more markets. However, it seems that macOS 15.2 also contains a few additional changes that Apple did not mention in its recent press release.
Specifically, MacRumors claims to have spotted references to unreleased Macs that were not present in previous versions of macOS. Allegedly, Apple has added Mac16.12 and Mac16.13, which have not yet appeared online in any other capacity. Nonetheless, MacRumors adds that the software file backed into macOS 15.2 also offers the following clarifications about the two devices:
- Mac16.12 - MacBook Air (13-inch, M4, 2025)
- Mac16.13 - MacBook Air (15-inch, M4, 2025)
Presuming that Apple equips both sizes with the 10-core version of the Apple M4, then its new MacBook Air machines should be about 23% faster than those it currently sells. Moreover, the Apple M4 (10 core) outperforms the older M1 and M2 chipsets by roughly 69% and 50% in our benchmarks, respectively. According to recent reports, Apple intends to release both models globally between January and March next year. In other words, the MacBook Air will be refreshed annually for the first time in over a decade.
