The most recent batch of iPad Pro tablets are less than a year old, having been presented with 11-inch and 13-inch OLED displays (curr. $1,195 on Amazon) in May 2024. For context, Apple also brought the 10-core version of its M4 chipset to the iPad Pro line, which we put through its paces in Apple's 11-inch and 13-inch form factors.
A new rumour originating from The Elec suggests that 8th-generation models are already in development, with mass production of new display driver ICs (DDIs) scheduled for April or May, pending regulatory approval. The Elec adds that while Apple has prioritised LX Semicron for DDI sourcing, it could return to using Samsung's System LSI subsidiary if LX Semicron fails to receive regulatory approval by March.
Consequently, The Elec does not predict any delays in iPad Pro 8th Gen development. The website does not offer any hints about release windows directly, although Apple has waited between a year and eighteen months before refreshing the iPad Pro in the past. Given that mass production may not start until after the 7th generation models reach their first anniversary, we doubt that replacements will officially arrive before the summer.
