The latest iPad Pro (with a top-end 13-inch variant that currently starts for $1,194 on Amazon) was the first Apple device to debut with its M4 platform. Now, its successor might be able to repeat this win with a launch once again tipped to take place in the second half of 2025.
The "iPad Pro equipped with the M5 processor" is also said to enter mass production during those six months, according to Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities. That is good news for BYD Electronics, as the company has apparently renewed its contract with Apple to act as the manufacturer for the Cupertino giant's flagship tablets.
With a ~20% performance boost compared to the older M3, the M4 might seem like overkill in a tablet, particularly one as thin and non-macOS-enabled as the iPad Pro.
However, the M5 might bring even more of the same, as it is also thought to debut as Apple's first ever processor to feature a cutting-edge 2 nanometer (nm) architecture from TSMC.
