This new Apple Mac mini accessory adds up to 8 TB of storage with 40 Gbps transfer speeds
The M4-based Mac Mini is relatively new, having been presented at the end of October alongside Apple's recent MacBook Pro 14 and MacBook Pro 16 releases. However, people have already sought to add to the new mini-PC in various ways, whether that be through accessories or even creating a Space Black version.
For reference, RayCue was the first company to release a Mac Mini M4 dock, which it should begin shipping later this month. Shortly afterwards, Satechi introduced its alternative with broadly the same design and feature set. Now, Orico has started selling the MiniMate, which it claims to have designed specifically for Apple's latest Mac Mini (curr. $579 on Amazon).

In short, the MiniMate provides 40 Gbps transfer speeds, unlike RayCue and Satechi's efforts. With that being said, we should stress that the MiniMate is just an external SSD. Hence, it does not add any ports like RayCue or Satechi's docks. Added to that, Orico is not offering a barebones unit to which one could use their own SSD.
As a result, the MiniMate costs at least $139.99, for which MiniMate includes 512 GB of storage. Alternatively, the accessory can be configured with 1 TB, 2 TB, 4 TB and 8 TB drives, albeit for $199.99, $279.99, $499.99 and $999.99, respectively. Please see Orico's website for more details.
