Apple's recently launched iPhone 16 is only a few months old, but that hardly hinders the rumor mill from churning out juicy new information regarding next year's iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro lineups. A recent tidbit shared by the prominent leaker "Instant Digital" throws cold water on a puzzling earlier claim regarding a design shift in next year's flagship lineup.
The previous rumor, originating from The Information, stated that the iPhone 17 Pro models will do away with their titanium shell, and instead feature the same aluminum enclosure that its non-Pro siblings boast. This rumor was rather confusing, for the simple reason that Apple has always preferred to distinguish its 'Pro' iPhones using luxe materials such as stainless steel, or more recently, titanium.
Instant Digital, doubling down on the same argument, states that he does not believe Apple will drop titanium in favor of aluminum, arguing that the aforementioned premium materials such as "surgical grade stainless steel" and "titanium" is one of the selling points for the Pro variants. As pointed out by MacRumors, Instant Digital's reliability on this exact matter is rather unclear, considering that he cites no supply chain evidence to back up his claims.
