The HP Victus 16 is a commendable gaming laptop that boasts admirable internals despite a relatively affordable price. Thanks to an ongoing sale on Best Buy, the Victus 16 can now be purchased for just $879 - its lowest price ever on the platform.
Under the hood, the laptop is powered by a Ryzen 7 8845HS, which is marginally slower than the Ryzen 9 7940HS which is generally found in pricier notebooks. The RTX 4070 Laptop GPU handles the graphics side of things, and our review of the Intel-powered Victus 16 reveals that the laptop performs well enough, landing a hair below the average scores in its class.
The Victus 16's display, however, leaves much to be desired. Gamers will likely be perfectly satisfied with its 144 Hz 1080p panel, but professionals may end up disappointed with its 66% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. That being said, considering the price and target audience, the display performs passably well.
The Victus 16 boasts 16 GB of DDR-5600 memory and half a terabyte of PCIe 4.0 storage, both of which are user-upgradeable. The port selection is decent, and the 70 Whr battery should allow for decently long runtimes for regular non-intensive usage.
