Anker has updated its top-rated USB-C Thunderbolt 4 cable. The past version offered 100 W fast charging, while the new variant goes up to 240 W. Given that its connectivity standard is still the same, the bandwidth rating didn't see an upgrade. That means the newer option is still rated for 40 Gbps of transfer speed.
In comparison, the new Thunderbolt 5 standard can offer up to 120 Gbps of bandwidth, but there aren't many devices that can take full advantage of this yet. Getting back to the new Anker Thunderbolt 4 USB-C cable, like the previous version, it has 8K display support.
The company has also built this new Thunderbolt 4 USB-C cable with durability in mind. Anker says that it can withstand over 2,000 bends, and its length is the same as the previous version, coming in at 2.3 feet or 0.7 meters. This makes the new cable the shortest option from the brand with 240 W fast charging support.
As for the price, the new Anker Thunderbolt 4 cable costs $39.99, lower than the previous version's $41.99 launch price tag (curr. $34.99 on Amazon). Of course, if you want to stay a little future-proof, it would be a good idea to get the Thunderbolt 5 cable from Cable Matters, which is backward compatible with Thunderbolt 4 and even USB4. It also supports 240 W fast charging and is available in three sizes: 1-foot, 1.6 feet, and 3.3 feet.
