Casio is about to release four new G-Shock watches in Japan, celebrating the December launch of the DW-5000R. These models are the DW-5600RL-1JF, the DW-6900RL-1JF, the GA-110RL-1AJF and the GA-2100RL-1AJF. While there have been rumors about these watches for several months, their pricing has now been confirmed.
The Casio G-Shock DW-5600RL-1JF watch will retail for ¥14,300 (~$95). It offers basic features like a 1/100-second stopwatch, timer and alarms. An LED backlight allows you to read the display in darker conditions, and the watch can run for up to five years. The Casio G-Shock DW-6900RL-1JF watch has the same ¥14,300 (~$95) price as the DW-6900RL model. It has similar features, though it uses an electro-luminescent backlight instead, and has a shorter two-year expected battery life.
The Casio GA-110RL-1AJF watch is the most expensive of the four with a ¥20,350 (~$137) RRP. Compared to the other models, it is expected to have additional features like magnetic resistance and a more accurate 1/1000-second stopwatch. Plus, it offers world time, an LED backlight and a two-year run time. The Casio GA-2100RL-1AJF watch is expected to cost ¥17,600 (~$117). Like the GA-110RL, users can choose from a range of world time zones. The watch has a double LED light and a slightly longer battery life of three years.
These G-Shock watches have red accents framing the digital watch face, like the upcoming DW-5000R. The Casio G-Shock DW-5600RL-1JF, DW-6900RL-1JF, GA-110RL-1AJF and GA-2100RL-1AJF will be available to order in Japan from December 1st. It is unclear whether or when these watches could launch in other markets where the DW-5000R will be released, such as the US. Instead, you could consider the G-Shock Move DW-H5600 smartwatch with Bluetooth connectivity, heart rate sensor, and solar charging; it has a $299 RRP but is currently available for $170 at Amazon.
