Microsoft has confirmed that the 24H2 update for Windows 11 may cause problems with select Ubisoft games. The affected games are Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Assassin's Creed Origins, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Star Wars Outlaws, and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Ubisoft has released a temporary hotfix (v1.41) for Star Wars Outlaws. Microsoft says users might still experience performance issues in the title. The company said it has temporarily "applied a compatibility hold" on devices with these games installed. This means the 24H2 update will not be served on these devices.
Microsoft also recommends not manually installing update 24H2 using the Windows assistant or the media creation tool until the issues are resolved. Meanwhile, Microsoft recommends force-quitting the games if users run into problems. This can be done using the Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del or Ctrl+Shift+Esc on a keyboard), then selecting the games executable in the Processes tab and right-clicking on it to End Task.
