Ubisoft is pressing ahead with plans for the Assassin's Creed Shadows preview event next week, despite the game’s recent delay. As confirmed by gaming insider Tom Henderson, the event will allow media and content creators an early look at the game. However, the embargo date for coverage remains unknown.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, originally scheduled for February 14, 2025, has faced multiple setbacks, with the latest one being its launch date getting pushed to March 20, 2025. Ubisoft cited the need for additional development time to polish gameplay and address community feedback. The preview event, however, appears to be moving forward as scheduled.
Henderson noted that logistical challenges were among the reasons Ubisoft decided not to postpone the event further. The development team reportedly aimed to achieve "maximum polish" but didn’t want to disrupt the planned showcase. Initial rumors had suggested the embargo on coverage might be lifted around January 20, though this is still unconfirmed.
Fans on social media platforms like X and Reddit are hoping the preview event will clear doubts about gameplay mechanics and overall quality, particularly given the recent focus on dual protagonists, Yasuke and Naoe, and the game's revamped parkour system. With February stacked with major game releases, March would probably serve as a better window for Assassin's Creed Shadows to make its mark, more so considering this is Ubisoft's big make-or-break game.
