A new game recently launched on Steam, offering a unique survival simulator tailored to car enthusiasts. The concept has been well-received, earning very positive reviews and topping the SteamDB charts in two categories.

Developed and published by Amistech Games, My Summer Car immerses players in the life of a car enthusiast in 1990s Finland. The game begins with hundreds of individual parts, challenging players to assemble a fully functional car. Once built, the vehicle can be driven, customized and upgraded to suit personal preferences. Like a real car, it also requires regular maintenance and repairs, adding a layer of realism to the experience.

The goal in My Summer Car is to get the car ready for a rally race, but there are no set missions or predefined objectives. Players are free to choose how they manage their projects and daily life. Beyond caring for the car, they must also tend to their character’s needs, including eating, drinking, sleeping and other essentials. Adding to the challenge is a permadeath mechanic, if the character dies, the game ends permanently.

My Summer Car may lack the graphical polish of modern Unreal Engine 5 games, resembling something closer to a PlayStation 3 title. However, this doesn’t seem to bother Steam users. Since its Early Access launch in October 2016, the game has garnered over 77,000 reviews, boasting a "Very Positive" average rating of 94%. It has also claimed the top spot in the SteamDB charts for "Hot Releases" and "Popular Games." Until January 15, players can grab the game at an introductory price, with an 18% discount bringing the cost down to approximately $12.30 instead of $15.
