At the moment, the Microsoft Surface Pro (currently $799 on Amazon) is only offered with a 13-inch display, while the Surface Laptop is available in 13.8-inch and 15-inch size variants. According to latest information from Windows Central, Microsoft is currently developing smaller versions of both devices, which are expected to hit the market soon.
While the exact launch date remains unknown at this point in time, these devices are expected to be officially unveiled in the next few weeks. Presumably, the new Surface Pro will be a direct competitor to the smaller 11-inch iPad Pro. The Windows tablet will almost certainly be offered with a keyboard cover including a trackpad, and it will feature a display that measures between 11 and 12 inches. On the other hand, the new Surface Laptop is expected to serve as the successor to the Surface Laptop Go, which is equipped with a 12.4-inch display. However, the screen size of the new notebook is unclear.
In any case, Microsoft could equip both tablets with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X or Snapdragon X Plus, which should allow the mini Surfaces to provide decent performance and relatively long battery runtimes at prices starting at around $800. Meanwhile, Microsoft is reportedly also working on new model variants of the Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11, which are to be equipped with Intel’s Lunar Lake chips instead of the Snapdragon X Elite. That being said, these models are primarily designed for business customers and are usually not sold directly to regular consumers.
