It seems that Microsoft could be releasing more Surface products than usual this year. To recap, Windows Central reported last week that Microsoft plans to introduce smaller versions of Surface Laptop and Surface Pro devices, possibly as successors to the Surface Laptop Go and Surface Go, respectively.
While the pair are rumoured to arrive 'in the coming weeks' with Snapdragon X and Snapdragon X Plus series chipsets, it appears that the next batch of x86-powered Surface machines are right around the corner. The exact contents of Microsoft's next launch event remain unknown for now, which it has scheduled for January 30 between 15:00 and 16:00 UTC. With that being said, its Surface division has confirmed that a 'major announcement' is planned relating to its 'for Business' segment.
Last year, Microsoft used a similar event to showcase the Surface Laptop 6 for Business and Surface Pro 10 for Business based around Intel's Meteor Lake architecture. By contrast, the company waited until June before revealing the ARM-based Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro 11 (curr. $989.99 on Amazon); reputedly, Snapdragon X2-based successors will be launching 'later this year'.
In the meantime, the Surface Laptop 8 and Surface Pro 12 should debut with Core Ultra 5 226V, Core Ultra 7 266V and Core Ultra 7 268V processors that feature up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM. These new 'for Business' editions are also slated to gain the design changes that Microsoft debuted on last year's consumer editions, such as slimmer display bezels on the Surface Laptop line. Please note that although Microsoft will advertise these devices for business customers, regular consumers should be able to purchase them via the company's online store.
