Microsoft has announced various new Windows services today, including Copilot+ and Recall. As expected, the company has also joined Dell, Lenovo and others in announcing the first batch of Snapdragon X-powered devices. Contrary to pre-release rumours, Microsoft has called its new Surface Laptop anything but the Surface Laptop 6.
Instead, its product listing vacillates between referring to the Surface Laptop 5 successor (curr. $739.99 on Amazon) as the Surface Laptop Copilot+ PC, Surface Laptop 7th Edition or simply 'Surface Laptop'. Setting the naming irregularities to one side, the new Surface Laptop comes in 13.8-inch or 15-inch sizes, each with 600-nit IPS displays. Additionally, the pair can be configured with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Plus or Snapdragon X Elite chipsets; Microsoft does not list which variants it has opted for, though.
Nonetheless, it bills all-new Surface Laptop models as being 80% faster than the Surface Laptop 5. Moreover, Microsoft states that its new laptops can last up to 22 hours when playing videos. As always, we would recommend waiting for independent reviews to land before judging Microsoft's claims in this regard.
Furthermore, Microsoft has equipped its new laptops with a haptic multi-touch trackpad and allows them to power 3K monitors simultaneously while their displays are still activated, unlike the current MacBook Air. Microsoft's Surface Laptop are already available to pre-order in multiple markets, starting at $999.99 in the US for the 13.8-inch model and $1,299.99 for its 15-inch counterpart. Please see the company's product page for more details.
