Asus just announced the new Vivobook S 15 with Qualcomm's brand-new Snapdragon X Elite processor. It is the latest member of the Vivobook S 15 series and complements the existing AMD and Intel SKUs. The silver chassis is slightly changed from the familiar Vivobook S 15 and just weighs 1.42 kg with a height of just 14.7 mm including one-zone RGB keyboard illumination. The integrated 70-Wh battery enables runtimes of up to 18 hours and there are plenty of connectors including 2x USB 4.0, 2x USB-A, HDMI 2.1, stereo jack as well as a microSD-card reader. Sound is provided by a powerful Harman Kardon-certified audio system.
Heart of the new Vivobook S 15 is Qualcomm's new ARM processor: The Snapdragon X Elite. it is combined with up to 32 GB LPDDR5x-8448 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe-4.0 SSD. Qualcomm's FastConnect 7800 system supports Bluetooth 5.4 as well as Wi-Fi 7 with speeds of up to 5.8 Gbps ensuring seamless streaming and effortless task completion.
The Qualcomm SoC also integrates a powerful Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPS for swift on device AI processing. In addition to familiar Windows AI features (like webcam Studio Effects), the Snapdragon models will support additional features like Live Captions for accurate real-time subtitles and the ability to transform sketches into finished artwork. There is also the AiSense IR camera with enhanced presence-detection abilities like dimming the screen when you don't look at it or auto locking when you move away from the laptop. There are also exclusive AI apps from Asus like StoryCube for managing digital assets, using AI assistance to sort, edit, manage, and export captured raw files.
The Vivobook S 15 features a 15.6-inch Asus Lumina OLED screen with 2.8K resolution (2880 x 1620 pixels) and 120 Hz. Thanks to narrow bezels, the device achieves a screen-to-body ratio of 89 % and the panel also supports HDR with a peak brightness of 600 nits. The OLED covers the full DCI-P3 color gamut and is already calibrated by the factory with an advertised average DeltaE value <1.
