Lenovo has updated the ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 with a Gen 5 model, a year after showcasing the Gen 4 model (curr. $1,059 on Amazon) with Intel Meteor Lake-U processors. This time, the ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 comes with Intel's newer Arrow Lake-U platform, which drops to a 5 nm manufacturing process (Intel 3) for improved power efficiency.
According to Lenovo, the ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 Gen 5 will be available with up to a Core Ultra 7 255U processor. As a result, the new model will have two Low Power Efficient, 8 Efficient and 2 Performance cores at its disposal with a total of 14 threads. The Core Ultra 7 255U peaks at 5.2 GHz on its Performance cores too, which should help it outperform its predecessor in single and multi-threaded workloads.
Little else appears to have changed between Gen 4 and Gen 5 versions of the ThinkBook 14 2-in-1. For example, Lenovo continues to equip the 2-in-1 with a 14-inch and 16:10 IPS panel that outputs at 60 Hz with 300 nits peak brightness. For some reason, the company has dropped from 64 GB to 32 GB as the device's peak RAM configuration, which it still complements with up to 2 TB of storage.
Likewise, a 60 Wh battery returns, along with ports like HDMI 2.1 and Thunderbolt 4. Orders for the ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 Gen 5 will open this May across Europe. Lenovo states that the 2-in-1 will start at €1,099; it has not shared full configuration options yet, though.
