Microsoft Surface: Evidence of new Surface Pro or Surface Laptop surfaces after rumours of spring release

Hardly any time has passed since Microsoft updated its Surface Laptop and Surface Pro ranges with new models. Strictly speaking, Microsoft only markets these models to businesses. However, anyone can purchase these Intel Lunar Lake-powered variants.

A new leak suggests that Microsoft remains focused on only offering Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets across its consumer Surface portfolio, though. Recently, there were suggestions that the company would soon complement the existing Surface Laptop and Surface Pro (curr. $949.99 on Amazon) with cheaper and more compact options.

Now, Roland Quandt believes that he has discovered evidence of this refresh on Geekbench. As the screenshot below shows, someone benchmarked '774_LAN' months ago with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X1P-42-100 chipset and 16 GB of RAM running Windows 11 Pro. Unfortunately, Geekbench does not reveal any further details about the device; single-core and multi-core scores are in line with expectations for the Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100, though.

As a result, it is unclear whether 774_LAN relates to a new Surface Laptop or Surface Pro. Either way, 774_LAN will be less powerful than Microsoft's existing Qualcomm-powered options. According to Windows Central, both devices are set to launch this spring with display sizes that range between 11 and 12-inches diagonally.
