The Redmond-based software giant is diligently working on a new update for Windows 11, and some details about it have already been unveiled. Among other things, Microsoft has resolved an annoying printer issue that would cause USB printers with the IP print feature to unexpectedly print a page with text. So far, the update hasn't received an official code name, but according to the usual naming convention, it will likely be called 25H2.
New Windows 11 update fixes many bugs
According to the official announcement, Microsoft intends to fix numerous issues. In addition to the aforementioned printer issue, a bug that occurs when Windows 11 is reset to factory settings will be resolved. This bug affects build version 26200, which is incorrectly displayed as 26100.
In addition to these various bug fixes, Microsoft is also implementing new features. In the new "About" section in the settings, users can find important hardware information regarding the CPU or the amount of memory. Microsoft explains that this feature should give new users a quick overview of their hardware.
Particularly interesting is the new virtual keyboard mode, which can now adopt the layout of a gamepad. This could primarily benefit Surface tablets, which are often used via their touchscreen.
Features to be rolled out gradually
In contrast to said bug fixes, these new features are not expected to become available immediately. Instead, they will be implemented step by step over time. Windows Latest further speculates whether the update will be a new platform (codenamed Selenium) or an adapted version of 24H2 (codenamed Germanium).
If previous update timelines are any indication, Windows 11 25H2 could be released between September and October 2025.
