Casio's rumored mechanical watch is looking more real by the day. We first learned about its existence earlier in March, but there was very little to glean from the initial leak besides color options and that the watch was going to be part of the Edifice line. But thanks to a fresh leak, we now have a better understanding of this upcoming mechanical watch, including its model number, key specs, and possible pricing.
According to noted Casio leaker Geesghock, the first mechanical Casio Edifice watch will bear the model number EFK-100. The watch is reportedly using a Module 5755, believed to be based on the reliable Seiko NH35 automatic movement—a common workhorse in the affordable mechanical space. Owners can also expect the conveniences of both automatic and manual winding, hacking seconds for precise time setting (where the second hand stops when you pull the crown), a practical power reserve of around 40 hours, a beat rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour, and a 10 bar (100 meters) of water resistance—all solid specs for an accessible mechanical watch.
The exact price remains uncertain, but the leak floats potential figures around €270-300 for a stainless steel variant. There's also mention of a carbon version commanding a higher price tag in the €400-500 range. Geesghock cautions that these price estimates are not concrete yet, so take them with a grain of salt.
As per the previous leak, Casio is reportedly aiming for a June release. But of course, nothing is confirmed until Casio makes an official announcement.
