Samsung's newest set of mid-range Galaxy A smartphones have been shown off at MWC 2025. The Galaxy A36 sits between the Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A26. Spec-wise, it isn't very much different from the others, but it offers some important generation-over-generation upgrades compared to its predecessor.
For starters, the Galaxy A36 comes with a slightly larger 6.7 inches (vs 6.6-inch on Galaxy A35) FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,200 nits peak brightness. Next, it ditches Samsung's Exynos mid-ranger for a Qualcomm-made Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Lastly, its 5,000 mAh battery supports 45 Watt fast charging, effectively putting it on par with its more expensive Galaxy S counterparts.
Everything else about the Galaxy A36 is largely the same as before. Its rear camera array still consists of a 50 MP main sensor, which is accompanied by an 8 MP wide-angle lens and a 5 MP macro sensor. Its front-facing 12 MP camera can now shoot HDR video. Many might consider this an upgrade over the 32 MP camera, but others may lament at the lowered megapixel count. The phone is, however, marginally thinner and lighter than the Galaxy A35.
Other Galaxy A36 specs include up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Expandable storage is not supported anymore, and at this point, one would be hard-pressed to find a phone that does. But hey, at least you get a 15% larger vapour chamber for that Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and IP67 dust and water resistance. Then there are the usual AI-powered doodads like object recognition, Circle to Search, Auto Trim and Best Face.
Samsung offers the Galaxy A36 in four colourways: Lime, Lavender, Black and White. You can pre-order it now from Samsung's website, starting at EUR 359.
