The Model Y Juniper refresh release date came and went in China this week, and Tesla even stopped selling the Launch Series with extended warranty there.
In the US, however, the 2026 Model Y facelift is yet to be released, and is now only available as an expensive Launch Series preorder edition that costs nearly $60,000 as a package offer with FSD and other options.
The Juniper refresh release date in the US must be pretty close, however, as Tesla just discounted the Model Y prices for all vehicles in its inventory to clear its lots for the facelift.
The Model Y price cut goes up to the whopping $8,400, more than the federal tax credit that the government doles out for it as a point-of-sale subsidy. Thus, a brand new Tesla Model Y RWD can be had for as little as $33,890 right now.
Tesla pegs the pricing of this particular Model Y with dark 19-inch Gemini Wheels as $27,890 even, but that is with its dubious 5-year gas savings calculation that is not valid for everyone everywhere.
The Model Y deals get even sweeter for the more premium AWD versions. A 2025 Model Y Long Range AWD demo unit with 700 miles on the odometer can be had for $8,320 off, for instance.
At $36,170, it is one of the best Model Y deals currently available as the car is the 7-seat Model Y version with Quicksilver paint, dark Gemini Wheels and Black and White Premium Interior, all paid extras that are now folded into the price.
The top of the line Model Y Performance version that the Juniper refresh won't have at launch is a screeching good deal at $36,590, too. Tesla discounts the whopping $8,400 off that one, as it is a demo car, but with only 200 miles on it. It comes with a set of otherwise paid options, too, such as a Deep Blue Metallic color.
The list of great Model Y inventory deals goes on and on, indicating that we might see the Juniper refresh released as soon as next week, since Tesla has pegged it for March. It remains to be seen at what price will the non-Launch Series edition land in the US, but it won't be anything close to the deals for the old Model Y, especially those for the Performance model that may not arrive in a facelifted form before the holiday quarter anyway.
Thus, those who care little about a slightly dated design with no shiny light bars have a great opportunity to pull the trigger on a new or almost new Model Y starting in the low thirties. The new 2026 Model Y Juniper refresh still carries the old battery capacity and low-voltage architecture, after all, as well as the same comparatively slow charging speeds with the aging 400V powertrain.
