Xiaomi has unveiled some exciting new TWS earbuds at MWC 2025. While the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro is an incremental upgrade over the Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro, the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Wi-Fi adds a heretofore unseen feature in audio products. As its name suggests, it can interface with compatible smartphones over Wi-Fi.
Starting with the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro, you get 11 mm dynamic drivers accompanied by a PZT tweeter and planar driver. Each earbud weighs 5.6 g, and they come in two colour variants: Ceramic White and Titan Grey. Xiaomi claims the Buds 5 Pro can last for up to eight hours on a single charge, but you'll need to switch off ANC and use a lower quality audio codec to hit that figure. With the case, you can get up to 40 hours of uninterrupted audio time.
The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro supports Qualcomm's aptX Adaptive, aptX Lossless, AAC, SBC, and LC3. Unlike the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, Bluetooth 6 is not supported (you have to make do with 5.4). Dual-device operation is supported, though. The Buds 5 Pro's ANC (active noise cancellation) can drown out noises up to 55 dB. Real-time translation and transcription are also available. Next, the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Wi-Fi supports audio transmission at 96 kHz and 24 bits thanks to Qualcomm's Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite and XPAN, making the 4.2 Mbps bit rate lossless audio via Wi-Fi possible.
However, it will only work on compatible smartphones, a list of which will be available soon on Xiaomi's website. Otherwise, its feature set is identical to that of the regular Buds 5 Pro. The Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro can be bought for EUR 200, while the Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro Wi-Fi will set you back by EUR 230, but only in one colourway: Translucent Black.
