Motorola releases new affordable smartwatch with 10 days of battery life and Google integration
Motorola has released a new smartwatch less than a year after introducing the Moto Watch 70 and Moto Watch 200. While Xiaomi has returned to Wear OS and OnePlus is rumoured to do so later this year, Motorola continues to shun the platform it previously embraced. This time, Motorola has presented the Moto Watch 40, a smaller alternative to the Moto Watch 70 (curr. $73.49 on Amazon).
As such, the Moto Watch 40 offers a relatively simple feature set with a lightweight proprietary OS (Moto Watch OS) that helps deliver up to 10 days of battery life from the smartwatch's 240 mAh battery. Still, the Moto Watch OS integrates with Google Fit, which cannot be said for many budget wearables. Additionally, Motorola has included a 1.57-inch display that shows 85 pre-installed watch faces; full panel specifications remain unknown, though.
Moreover, the Moto Watch 40 is IP67-certified against dust and water ingress. Furthermore, Motorola has equipped the smartwatch with a 24/7 heart rate monitor, plus the ability to track steps, sleep stages and SpO2 levels. The Moto Watch 40 is orderable in the US for $64.99 with Phantom Black and Rose Gold colour options. Unfortunately, Motorola has not revealed pricing or availability for other markets yet.
